When we were discussing in our ENG101 class about the issue that” if music piracy is stealing”, I came up with a new and innovative idea. I thought “Whether it is stealing or not. Does it matter? It is obviously not ethical. By copying or downloading pieces free, we prevent creative thinking from gaining its efforts’ worth. So we must find a new method to pay every effort in the way of creating pieces.” And I started to plan a new modal to be used for fair paying to pieces.
First of all we want to reach to the resources of pieces for free. Then, we want pieces to be paid with fair payment. So someone must organise the payments for pieces. Government have to be this one. Government must rent all of the pieces from author until writer change decision. These rented pieces can be downloaded or copied by public for free. Measurement of payments must be organised with respect to download, copy or “use of the idea” counter. The pieces which are watched, read or referred must be paid more. Government must make payments for every action on the piece.
As a self- criticism: How can we measure the value of a statue or a building? Until we’ll reach the technology that makes possible to copy or download them I couldn’t find the exact answer.
So basically you're trying to come up with a fair way of making everybody happy, both the producers and the consumers of art. This is very noble of you since you're maintaining your distance by neither taking the listeners' nor the artists' side.
YanıtlaSilAs I remember this idea created quite an upheaval in the lesson, I'm curious what your friends will say to your suggestion:-)
hikmet do you think that government has enough money to pay for all mp3 files or downloaded movies or whatever, have you ever made a research about the amount of downloaded items per day?
YanıtlaSillet's say they have money, did you think that they really pay for you? govenments and states are also companies and if they don't profit they don't invest.
let's say they accepted to pay for you, they would take it back with taxes so maybe buying original copies would be cheaper.(astarı yüzünden pahalıya gelmek, attığın taş ürküttüğün kuşa değmemek, etc.)
if I was a musician, I would made an album and always keep downloading it. you can come with the idea of IP thing.. well, you saw my computer already, my IP address is always changing. so rozzers cannot get me alive!
by the way if you download a song of tarkan, turkish gov. can pay tarkan. what if you download a song of drunken tiger, who will pay? turkish gov or korean?
furthermore if government rents of all pieces, that means they are under the control of the government and that means monopolism. you should know the problems of monopolism.
finally, for your self-criticism; if someone could copy a building or a statue, it won't be a problem, the original one would exist. and i am sure that, in somewhere, chinese people make a copy of buildings.(of course with the sign of Made in PRC)
that's it for now..
nice comment, comrade!
